MuscleNerd (iPhone Dev Team Member) has released a Windows + Mac version of redsn0w. This release includes support for multiple devices running the 3.1.2 software version and allows the user to change boot logos.

I haven’t tested this software, but iPhone dev team jailbreak are always superb. This particular release is beta software though, so be cautious about it. It may not be the most stable version. I personally would wait until a final release comes out instead of using the beta.

Please stop with the spam comments. No, I do not want to see Miley Cyrus naked. Stop posting crap about porn sites. If you are a spammer reading this, I suggest you turn off your computer, go outside and find some friends. You obviously lack them.

Honestly, I don’t know. The iPhone scene has had no fascinating/exciting news for a while. In a few months, there is an expected new iPhone model, by then the jailbreaking community will be thriving with lots of interesting information. At the moment, there is simply nothing to write about.

I’m sorry to the people who check here every day to see if there is a new article, but don’t expect much until something big happens.

By the way, Wordpress for iPhone is so handy :D Right now I’m writing this in Australia. Would recommend to all you bloggers out there.

Install0us 3.0 is due to be released to donators as a beta soon. Install0us, developed by puy0, allows users of the application to install ‘cracked’ (DRM free) applications from the App Store.

Install0us 3.0 has many new features over the current 2.5 version. Applications are now displayed with a different API, instead of the Web API that Kyek made for the mobile version of Appulous. If you choose to download and install an app from Appulous, Install0us will notify you automatically when an update is available for it.

This version of install0us is not being released to the public yet, due to many bugs/problems that must be fixed before it becomes the final version. Click here for the official Install0us site.

Apple has come under much critisism for it’s unjustified rejection of apps from the App Store. A developer submitted an app called GV Mobile which allowed Google Voice users to use the service on their iPhone. This app was rejected by the Apple reviewers for a reason that was never disclosed to the public. The developer has since gone on to release the same application in Cydia for all jailbroken devices.

Apple has also come under fire for inconsistency in their reviewing of applications that are submitted. An application may be accepted into the App Store, while a very similar app may be rejected. The FCC got involved and questioned Apple about it’s reviewal process. Since then, things have been looking up.

Apple recently approved the Qik application, which allows users to view video on their phone (much like YouTube). Apple has also approved the iVideoRecorder application.

iVideoRecoder is available for download to all iPhone’s and can record video on all iPhones as well. The only downside is that the frame rate is extremely low (3 – 4 fps), but this application acceptance got me thinking. Could this mean Apple is no longer being quite frankly, petty with their decisions? Could applications like CyCorder be accepted into the App Store sometime soon? It’s all up to Apple.

Enough with all these comments in the Russian language! Please, translate or don’t comment at all. I’m sick of translating all of the comments into English to see if they are spam or not. If you have to comment in Russian, at least provide a link to a translation, or a translation below the original text.

No, I have nothing against Russian people, or the language and I am not being rascist. I just do not want to translate comments all the time.

Thanks,

Myself, along with many others are experiencing an App Store bug occassionally that has only started very recently. If you have an application installed, you are notified when an update for that application becomes available. You can open the App Store, type in your iTunes password and download the update and install it directly on your device.

This is where some iPhone and iPod touch users are having problems. After the update is downloaded and installed, the App Store will continue to pester you to update the same application. This bug seems to be happening at random and as far as I know, there is no way to recreate it. It just happens.

Some possible causes for this:

The device is downloading and installing the correct update, but is not registering it as updated once the installation is complete.

The iTunes App Store servers are providing the wrong file for download, therefore the wrong version is being installed and a new one is still available.

No definite fix for this bug yet, but rebooting your device may work to solve the problem in the mean time. It looks like this problem is on the server side at Apple, so we just have to wait for Apple to do something about it. If you are experiencing this bug or something similar to it, comment on this post. Also tell us anything that you have done that appears to have solved the problem for you.

This application is $2 USD from the Cydia Store

iClassic, an iPod Classic emulator for the iPhone and iPod Touch, has been released in the Cydia Store. The package is basically an iPod Classic look-a-like program that opens from your springboard, and lets you listen you listen to all the music in your library. Of course, some of the options on a real iPod Classic are missing for obvious reasons, but most things are there. This is the first release of the program, and updates should follow to allow more functionality. At the moment, only music can be played with the program, but photo viewing and video watching capabilities could be added in the weeks/months to come.

The main screen of iClassic:

iclassic_main

As you can see, it almost exactly replicates an iPod Classic. You may notice that the scroll wheel that shows is different to that of an iPod Classic. This is due to legal reasons with Apple. If you would like to get the original click wheel to show, I will have some instructions at the end of this post.

Screen showing the song now playing:

iclassic_music_main

This part is fully functional. The scroll wheel will change the volume and the s0ng can be skipped. All of the buttons on the click wheel will work when pressed.

The only issue that I can find with this is that scrolling fast causes it to jump a bit. Hopefully this will be fixed in an update. Solid app overall though.

NEXT PART: If you want the default iPod Classic click wheel then follow these steps.

Make sure you already have Winterboard installed.

1. Open Cydia and search for iPod Classic Theme and install that package.

2. Activate it in Winterboard and your device will respring.

The next time that iClassic is opened, the new click wheel will be displayed instead.

Hey guys,

As you my know already, appulous has been down for a while. I’m happy to say that the mobile version is back up and you should have full access to the database. I’m not sure yet if it is just the mobile version that is back up, so I will post here when I find out.

If the troll bridge is still up and you cannot answer the question, you don’t deserve the answer.

Kyek may still be in the process of setting up the new servers that he has to make Appulous fast again. In the days before it was shut down temporarily, few people were actually getting to the main page because their existing server could not cope with the amount of people that were using Appulous at one time.

To stay updated on the whole Appulous/Hacklous situation, check for new posts here, or click here.

EDIT: Appulous is now available as the computer. Everyone should now have access to their favourite iPhone apps site! Go to hackulo.us and thank Kyek for all of his work on this project. There is nothing else as expansive as Appulous.

Install0us 2.5 is now available on it’s own dedicated repository. Puy0 (the developer) has added many new features, including Auto-IPA Install and Delete, the option to specify a home page, and a new layout. this new version of install0us is now hosted on it’s own repository, instead of hackulo.us’s repository. Use the below source to download Install0us 2.5:

http://cydia.install0us.com/

Once you have added the above source in Cydia, you can search for Install0us (the 0 is a zero) and install the package.

The new install0us is great and has many new features, but someone from xSellize has created a custom home page for Install0us which allows you to access many different Cracked IPA sites from one convienient location. Use this source to get the package

http://cydia.xsellize.com/

Now search for custom install0us. install the package in the search results from the xSellize repo. The package should do everything for you, so the next time you open install0us you will have your custom home page. Look at the below images for the new loading screen and the custom home page.
