This application is $2 USD from the Cydia Store

iClassic, an iPod Classic emulator for the iPhone and iPod Touch, has been released in the Cydia Store. The package is basically an iPod Classic look-a-like program that opens from your springboard, and lets you listen you listen to all the music in your library. Of course, some of the options on a real iPod Classic are missing for obvious reasons, but most things are there. This is the first release of the program, and updates should follow to allow more functionality. At the moment, only music can be played with the program, but photo viewing and video watching capabilities could be added in the weeks/months to come.

The main screen of iClassic:

iclassic_main

As you can see, it almost exactly replicates an iPod Classic. You may notice that the scroll wheel that shows is different to that of an iPod Classic. This is due to legal reasons with Apple. If you would like to get the original click wheel to show, I will have some instructions at the end of this post.

Screen showing the song now playing:

iclassic_music_main

This part is fully functional. The scroll wheel will change the volume and the s0ng can be skipped. All of the buttons on the click wheel will work when pressed.

The only issue that I can find with this is that scrolling fast causes it to jump a bit. Hopefully this will be fixed in an update. Solid app overall though.

NEXT PART: If you want the default iPod Classic click wheel then follow these steps.

Make sure you already have Winterboard installed.

1. Open Cydia and search for iPod Classic Theme and install that package.

2. Activate it in Winterboard and your device will respring.

The next time that iClassic is opened, the new click wheel will be displayed instead.

A new package has been released in Cydia called Orbit, and it allows users to have an ‘Expose’ like feature added to their iDevice. This package mimics the Mac OSX Leopard feature that allows the user to view all of the open windows and select the one that they want to open. The Orbit package will add an icon to the home screen, and when the icon is tapped on, the screen zooms out and displays all of the home screens that their iPhone/iPod touch has. This can be extremely useful when you have a lot of applications installed (like me). If you download this application, I recommend putting the icon for it on the dock so that it is always there, and you don’t have to change pages to use the feature. Orbit is only available to jailbroken iDevice users. The package can be downloaded from the Cydia store, and it costs $2.99. Please do buy this application/package if you plan on getting it, and don’t download it for free. This developer has given the Cydia community a lot of handy and neat packages and without funds, one day he may not be able to continue. This new package is also made by the same developer that made such packages like Stack. Stack is also a very useful modification, and it mimics the Mac OSX Leopard feature ‘Stacks’.
